CONTRACTS KHALIFA
STADIUM
DOHA, QUATAR |
|
The Khalifa Stadium in
Doha, has a fully glazed wall, which rises in an inclined moon-shaped
arch from 8 metres to 25 metres, then back to 8 metres.
The main problem was access,
together with the raising and positioning of the 200kg glazed
panels. NSS solved the problem by designing and building an inclined
aluminium tower, 7.5m long, with a central material hoist, that
carried and positioned the panels. As the height increased, a
unique rising tie system allowed the tower to be erected with
the rising panels, while still safely attached to the building.
